Jurgen Klopp return to Liverpool confirmed as iconic boss takes on new role

Liverpool have confirmed that Jurgen Klopp will make an emotional return to the club in May as an honorary ambassador.

The former boss will attend the LFC Foundation's Annual Gala on May 23 as a guest speaker.

This marks his first appearance in his new honorary role since departing the club.

Tickets are already available for the charity event, which takes place just two days before Liverpool's final match of the season against Crystal Palace at Anfield.

'Everyone knows how much I love the work of the LFC Foundation and I can't wait to join them to celebrate that work and help to raise important funds for them to continue the incredible things they are doing,' said Klopp.

Matt Parish, chief executive of the LFC Foundation, praised the German's ongoing support.

'Jurgen was a fantastic advocate for our work during his time at the club and we appreciate his ongoing support and hope as many people as possible can join us,' Parish said.

The foundation's annual gala is a key fundraising event for Liverpool's charitable arm.

According to The Athletic, Klopp has also been invited to attend Liverpool's final Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace two days after the gala.

The German is currently working as Red Bull's global head of soccer since leaving Liverpool.

His potential appearance at Anfield would give fans another opportunity to show their appreciation for the beloved former manager.

Klopp's return comes as his successor Arne Slot continues to impress in his first season at the helm.

Liverpool need just 11 more points from their final seven games to clinch the Premier League title.
