Man Utd flop Andre Onana wanted in £40m transfer as Ruben Amorim eyes Prem goalkeeper

 Monaco are targeting Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana in a £40m deal.

And United could use the funds to lure Aston Villa stopper Emiliano Martinez to Old Trafford. Onana joined United from Inter Milan for £47.5m in 2023, but has struggled to impress at Old Trafford and with United bosses willing to sell almost any player if the price is right, he could be allowed to leave this summer.

The Cameroon international has endured another unconvincing season. Onana, 29, is currently on holiday but gave a cryptic reply when approached by a news crew this week.

When asked if he could leave United this summer, Onana replied: "Will I leave? I don't know, we'll see."

Monaco keepers Philipp Kohn and Radoslaw Majecki have struggled to make an impact, leaving the French club on the look out for a new No.1.

Martinez, meanwhile, has been offered deals to join the Saudi Pro-League, but wants to remain in the Premier League. And it's understood the Argentine World Cup winner is open to a move to United.

It comes after we reported Ruben Amorim is growing impatient with Red Devils bosses over the club's lack of summer signings.

Amorim handed club chiefs a list months ago of who he would like to bring to Old Trafford. But despite the United squad being in need of a serious overhaul following a shambolic campaign, little has happened to improve the talent at Amorim's disposal.

United's squad travel to America next month to ramp up their pre-season preparations and Amorim wants his targets on board before then.

Meanwhile, wantaway striker Marcus Rashford wants to miss the club's tour of the United States in favour of finding himself a new club.

Rashford is desperate to avoid going on the pre-season tour if he has not secured an exit from Old Trafford and will tell club bosses he wants to remain in England to resolve his future.

It is understood head coach Ruben Amorim would not have a problem with the 27-year-old not being part of the group. Rashford is expected to snub any approach from Newcastle in favour of holding out for a move to Barcelona.

He is willing to take a wage cut in order to secure a switch to the Spanish champions.
