Blow to Zelenskyy as Putin eliminates Ukrainian soldiers within 24 hours
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has suffered a major setback after Russia reportedly eliminated 400 of his soldiers within 24 hours.
In a statement dated Sunday, November 7, 2025, the Russian defense ministry reported that their operations in both the northern and southern regions of Ukraine resulted in significant casualties.
“Ukrainian forces sustained up to 210 casualties in the ‘North’ operational area and up to 190 in the ‘South’ over the past 24 hours,” the statement read.
In addition to targeting Ukrainian soldiers, Russian forces took control of the villages of Kucherivka in Ukraine’s northern Kharkiv region and Rivne in the eastern Donetsk region, according to the Defense Ministry.

Moscow also conducted group strikes on Ukrainian transport infrastructure, fuel and energy facilities, military airfields, and long-range drone complexes.
In response, President Zelenskyy stated that the attacks have somehow severely impacted Ukraine, noting, “Almost every day and every night, our emergency services deal with the aftermath of Russian strikes on peaceful Ukrainian cities and communities.”
He pointed out that during that week alone, Russia launched over 1,600 attack drones, around 1,200 guided aerial bombs, and nearly 70 missiles of various types against Ukraine.

Zelenskyy stressed that the primary targets of these strikes are the infrastructure essential for daily life.
“Today, there was another attack, more than 240 drones and 5 ballistic missiles, causing damage across seven regions. Tragically, people were killed in Slovyansk and the Chernihiv region,” he stated.
In response to these attacks, President Zelenskyy expressed his condolences to the families and loved ones of the casualties.
At the same time, he called for increased military support from his allies to help neutralize Russian attacks.
“We continue working with our partners to ensure that, in response to these attacks, our defenses grow stronger. The priority is clear: we need more air defense systems, missiles, and greater support for our defenders. Every agreement must be implemented faster. I thank everyone who is working to support Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.
The Russian defense statement comes amid ongoing peace talks aiming for a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.
US Envoys Meet with Ukrainian Officials
Ukrainian officials and U.S. envoys, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, met in Miami after a separate meeting between the U.S. team and Vladimir Putin in Moscow earlier that week.
Both U.S. and Ukrainian delegates stated that genuine progress toward an agreement will ultimately depend on Russia’s willingness to demonstrate a serious commitment to long-term peace.
President Zelenskyy described the discussions as “constructive” and agreed on the next steps for negotiations.
